This is incredible Katy. Congratulations on sending your precious book out into the world. I’m so sorry I missed the talk live but I can’t wait to watch the video. Proud of you.
Congratulations Katrina, a finished a manuscript truly is a triumph! Very worth celebrating. You know I love this comparison for the Icelandic horse. My Icelandic has been that for me certainly, as have so many horses in my life. This is such a beautiful metaphor and speaks so much truth. We may have different bridges, but for those of us who find those bridges in horses, it's a truly shared kinship. Thank you for sharing!
I also always loved St. Thomas Aquinas' definition of love -- "to will the good of the other." And I do think that deep empathy we can develop with animals certainly helps us get there sometimes.
Yes, I like the reminder that love is action on behalf of another. We say we love horses, but do our actions reflect that on their behalf?
I think these metaphorical bridges that exist between horse and human are some of the most mysterious and powerful I've certainly experienced in my life.
This is such a beautiful piece. The idea of invisible bridges really stayed with me — it captures something so true about the way connection and healing often appear in our lives. I feel that deeply in my relationship with one of my dogs; she’s absolutely my bridge. I really hope your book finds its way into the world one day — it sounds wonderful :)

Gosh, thank you for the good wished, Wiola. I'm glad another person understands what I was trying to say about metaphorical bridges. :)
